What is Spades?
Spades is a card game where the objective is to take the number of tricks that you bid on before the play began. When the first card is laid, each player must lay the same suit when possible. The highest card in the leading suit wins the trick.
However, there’s a twist to it–the game is called “spades” because the spades suit trumps all other suits in the card deck. If a spades card is laid, the highest spade wins the hand.
The player with the most point at the end of the round wins. Points are earned by winning at least the number of tricks bid in each hand.
