As I crunched the numbers, it became evident that I could bring home the same amount of take-home pay if I worked a part-time online job instead of returning to work.

Freelance writing was one of the first part-time jobs online that helped me establish a side income. As I navigated life with a newborn and worked through each naptime, my income started low at around $300 per month.
